Pastor Matthew Jeffords

Matthew Jeffords was drawn into pastoral ministry during high school, when conversations with friends helped him see a calling that brought together his love for music, liturgy, Scripture, and serving God's people.

With a passion for teaching, preaching, and helping others grow in their understanding of God’s Word, Pastor Jeffords strives to lead with humility, grace, and a servant’s heart. Rooted in the Lutheran confession of salvation by grace through faith, Pastor Jeffords’ work centers on feeding Christ’s sheep through faithful preaching, liturgy, and care. Outside church, he works full-time at a local counseling agency and enjoys theatre, skating, state parks, kayaking, spending time with family, and continued study — all while praying that the comfort of the Gospel will strengthen this congregation and reach those throughout the Pee Dee region.

He finds joy in teaching—especially when children ask questions about faith—and in conducting the liturgy. His preaching is rooted in Scripture, shaped by daily Bible reading, commentary study, and a commitment to keeping the sermon centered on God’s Word rather than personal opinion. His ministry is guided by Ephesians 2:8–10 and the doctrine of justification by grace through faith.

He holds a BA in Church Music from Concordia University Chicago, a M.Div from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, and a M.S.Ed in Professional Counseling from Concordia University Wisconsin.
